반결정성 열가소성 중합체이며 투명하고 영구적으로 사용할 수 있는 우수한 절연물이며 100°C - 120°C에서 사용된다. 섬유와 필라멘트로 사용되며, 호일, 성형품, 병과 같은 식품 포장 용기에서도 사용된다. 병에 사용될 때는 O2 및 CO2를 차단하는 플라즈마 장벽 코팅으로 사용되곤 한다. PET에 대한 코팅의 점착은 플라즈마 처리에 의해 크게 향상시킬 수 있다.
