래디컬 중합반응을 이용해 올레핀에서 생산되는 중합체를 통칭. 폴리올레핀에는 PE, PP, PB, PIB 등이 있다. 폴리올레핀의 공통적인 특성은 기능기의 결핍으로 극성이 낮아 비처리 폴리올레핀에 대한 코팅의 점착력이 떨어진다는 것이다. 폴리올레핀에 대한 대다수 코팅의 점착력은 대체로 산소를 공정 가스로 이용하는 플라즈마 처리에 의해 크게 강화할 수 있다.
