폴리염화비닐. 대규모로 생산되는 저렴한 비정질 열가소성 중합체. 내산성, 내염기성, 내방사성, 비극성 용매와 대다수 산화제에 대한 내성이 우수하다. 경질 PVC(가소제가 없는)는 불연성이 아니지만, PVC는 열안정성이 낮다. PVC에 대한 코팅의 점착은 플라즈마 처리에 의해 크게 강화할 수 있지만, 가소제가 유해한 효과를 유발할 수 있으며, 고부식성 염소 래디칼이 형성된다.

Polyvinyl chloride, cheap amorphous thermoplastic polymer which is produced in large scale. Good resistance against acids, bases, radiation, nonpolar solvents and most oxidating agents. Hard PVC (without plasticizer) is not inflammatory, the heat stability of PVC is low. The adhesion of coatings on PVC can be substantially enhanced by plasma treatment, however, detrimental effects caused by the plasticizers are possible and highly corrosive chlorine radicals are formed.
