제품을 금형에서 최적으로 분리시키기 위해 (금속 또는 중합체 사출 성형에서) 금형에 주입되는 물질이며 대체로 유기 지방 또는 오일 또는 실리콘에 기반해 있다.
플라즈마 처리를 이용하면 오일 또는 실리콘과 같은 이형제를 표면에서 제거할 수 있다. 특히 이형제가 후속 단계(코팅 등)를 방해하는 경우에 플라즈마 처리를 이용해 제거할 수 있다.

Substances, usually based on organic fats or oils or on silicones, which are introduced into a mould (in metal or polymer injection moulding) to provide optimal release of the product from the mould. Plasma treatment allows the removal of release agents like oils or silicones from the surface, in particular in cases when they disturb following production steps (e. g. coating).
